The Better Baby Sling story
The Better Baby Sling is a small business run by
a mother from home. Suzanne Noble founded the company in 1994, not
long after her second child was born, when she became increasingly
frustrated with the highly recommended front carrier she was using.
The Better Baby Sling was adapted from American designs
and quickly proved popular, as customers found out about the sling either
through a friend or through advertising placed in all the major Baby magazines,
with La Leche League and the NCT. The sling has often featured favourably
in surveys of baby carriers, and was a "Best Buy" on Mumsnet
and in Baby Magazine.
Sue Budden began working for the company in 1998 when
her baby Eleanor was one year old. As well as taking orders and answering
queries, she worked on a website for the company in her spare time. Suzanne
later offered Sue the chance to take over the company, which she gladly
accepted. "I am delighted to have the opportunity to run such an
interesting and worthwhile business," said Sue. "Both my husband
and I used the sling every day from when my daughter was newborn through
to when she was around 2 years old and it feels good to be selling a product
I can so wholeheartedly recommend."
Sue Budden took over the running
of the business in April 2001 and continues to spread the word about this
wonderfully simple and practical way to carry a baby.
