One of the beauties of the sling is how easy it is to put on and take off. Perhaps you need to get on with some housework or jump out of the car to pop into a post office or use a bank machine - you can slip on the sling in a second, pop the baby in and go. Babies often fall asleep in the sling. They feel so safe, warm and comfortable next to your body and the movement lulls them to sleep. If you want to put them down on a bed or cot, bend over carefully until the baby is lying down on the bed, slide yourself out of the sling, undo it if you like, and leave your baby lying on the bed fast asleep. The sling can be used from birth up until toddlerhood, making it great value for money. Cradling a new baby feels natural to most mothers. In fact osteopaths and Alexander technique teachers agree that expecting a newborn baby to sit upright, as they have to front carriers, is not ideal for the undeveloped spines of newborn babies. When the baby is around six months old and starting to sit up, mothers naturally begin to carry them on their hip. A lot of customers ring us when their babies are around four months old, because the front carrier they are using is causing them back strain as their baby gets heavier.
