The Cradle Carry
- Put the sling on in backward (for newborns) or normal (for larger babies)
position.
- Slip the baby in the sling supporting his back
and neck with his head in the same direction as the rings. Adjust
the baby so he is lying between the padded sides (see figure on the
left).Adjust the tail strap by holding baby's bottom thereby releasing
tension on the rings and pull down hard on the strap. The smaller
the baby, the longer the tail strap.
- The cradle carry position can be adapted into
a variety of positions. Babies can sit up by placing the baby into
the sling sitting up (see right). You may also adjust your baby's
position once they are in the sling.
Helpful Hints:
- Continue to pull the strap past where the stitching
is and where there is just fabric to ensure the best fit.
- Don't worry if you baby looks low down and scrunched
up in the sling. This is a womb-like position which most babies find
very natural and comfortable. Colicky babies especially are comforted
by drawing their legs up and rolling into a little ball.
- Start walking immeadiately when using the sling
for the first few times. The movements will help to settle your baby.
